Walk for Warmth 2016/17

<<Client Services Homeless Assistance Program>>
Since 1992, the Community Action Agency’s Walk for Warmth has raised funds to help residents of Delta and Menominee Counties facing a heating emergency. Schoolcraft County returned to the program in 2013.
The 2017 walks raised $75,235 ($22,894 in Menominee County, $46,743 in Delta County, and $5,598 in Schoolcraft County). Every dollar raised is used in the county in which it is raised. The 2017 walks took place Feb. 25 in all three counties. Funds dispersed and households helped in each county in 2016/17: Menominee, $51,363 (126); Delta, $61,545 (437); Schoolcraft, $11,551 (45). Menominee County cosponsors were Bay Cities Radio, Hot Flame Gas, Island Resort and Casino, Wisconsin Public Service and WFRV-TV5. Delta County cosponsors were Island Resort and Casino, Community Foundation for Delta County, Community Foundation for Delta County’s Youth Advisory Committee, Radio Results Network and WJMN Local TV3. Schoolcraft County sponsors were Kewadin Cares, Radio Results Network and WJMN Local TV3. Very popular bratwurst sales also took place in Menominee and Escanaba to raise awareness of the Walks for Warmth.
