Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparents are low-income persons 55 years and older who provide person-to-person services to children with exceptional and special needs in schools, juvenile detention centers and Head Start. Following 40 hours of orientation and training, Foster Grandparents are assigned and work and average of 15-20 hours per week. Foster Grandparents receive:

► A non-taxable stipend

► Transportation or reimbursement for travel costs

► A meal each workday

► An annual physical examination

► Ongoing training

► Excess auto coverage for volunteers driving their own vehicles

► Accident and personal liability insurance

► Recognition for their services
